What does my kidney do?

WHAT DOES MY KIDNEY DO?

Your kidneys are very important! As key organs in your circulatory system, your kidneys filter waste from your blood. Around thirty-three gallons of blood pass through your kidneys every day-about 99% of this fluid goes back into your system, and the rest comes out as urine.
Since they need to process so much fluid, the best way to take care of your kidneys is to drink lots of water. If you don't, you could develop kidney stones which can damage your kidneys ans cause a lot of pain.
Without kidneys, your blood would not be able to carry nutrients to the rest of your body. Fortunately, you only need one (the body has lots of "back-up" organs like this-can you name a few others?), so many people choose to donate kidneys to help other people.
